Vigoro is a bat-and-ball sport that blends elements of cricket and baseball. Invented in England but embraced most strongly in Australia, the game has been played predominantly by women since the early 20th century. Vigoro uses a lighter ball, a long-handled paddle-shaped bat, and a pitch slightly shorter than a cricket pitch. Like cricket, teams score runs and players can be dismissed by many of the same methods, but the game is faster-paced, with continuous bowling and batting from one end.
This trophy reflects the long-standing role of vigoro in women’s sport in Australia and celebrates skill in the specialised position of wicket keeping.Object No.99.61Physical descriptionA V-shaped trophy with light and dark wood stripes.
