Some longer names are abbreviated. Each suburb or stop section is bordered by coloured rectangles in green, blue, red or white. Some rectangles show other shapes inside such as triangles, diamonds and circles also in green, blue, red or white. The tram’s stop line runs from the Waverly Depot down including most eastern suburbs to La Perouse, and goes up to Circular Quay and Fort Macquarie.
