Subdivision plans (or estate maps) were produced by real estate agents to promote the merits of newly created estates and subdivisions, and exist mostly from the 1860s- 1930s. These items were ephemeral and were not meant to last beyond the land auction, thus sometimes the dates will not include a year. The plans show the way land was subdivided, streets were named and properties were valued. They also document the surrounding area, such as planned railway stations, parks and natural features (beaches, cliffs etc.).
The library has a small collection of Subdivision plans available in person and online.
