TitleShip's plaque, Patrouilleur La GlorieuseDatec 1980sAbout this objectThis circular ship’s plaque belongs to La Glorieuse, a patrol boat (Patrouilleur) stationed in New Caledonia since 1987. The circumstances under which the plaque was presented to the La Perouse Museum are unclear; however, the vessel’s port call in Sydney in March 2003 could be relevant: during this visit, La Glorieuse participated in a bicentenary ceremony commemorating Nicolas Baudin’s 1803 visit to Kangaroo Island. The event was attended by Michel Rocard, former Prime Minister of France and president of the Terra Australis Association (France). In the same year, Rocard, on behalf of the Terra Australis Committee, gifted the La Perouse Museum a set of copperplate engravings from the Atlas du voyage de Lapérouse.Object No.2006.6DimensionsH:32mm
