Located in Coogee Bay. The origin for the name of Wedding Cake Island is a mystery, but local legend speculates that it derives from the white caps breaking over the rocks or the large amount of bird droppings giving the island the appreance of an iced cake.
In October 1922, The Sun reported that a young pig, nicknamed Porky Crusoe, managed to swim to 'Coogee Island' and got stranded. Those on a passing ship, the Eden, reported hearing noises from the island but they were so faint they were disregarded. Later that day, a Clovelly local, Mr Brandit, was out on his boat for a cruise and touched down on the island, finding the pig and bringing it back to shore.
