The former "Star and Garter" Inn - erected c.1859 by William Ellis, Randwick Alderman, for use as "Star and Garter Inn". In 1869, it was acquired by Captain Thomas Watson who renamed it to Cook's Lodge in the 1870s. He constructed the tower in 1870s to provide views to Botany Bay, and in 1974 constructed the Captain Cook Statue. It has accommodated various private schools over the years, until it was purchased in 1897 by the Hannan family who owned property and operated a butchery there until 1985. The building has since been extensively refurbished and has passed through many hands from it's time of construction.
