Situated in the Column Garden, near the 'Sunset' statue, sits a bronze sundail on atop a sandstone plinth with an inscribed top with embossed letters which reads "Gather Ye Rosebuds While Ye May". The origins of the sundial are unknown, however, one story had been brought forth by a visiting patron. A young girl was diagnosed with a terminal illness and was sent home to spend her last days in comfort surrounded by family. The park's staff, who were friends of the family, laid branches of palm trees along the road outside her home to muffle the sounds of passing by traffic, in order for the girl to feel more comfortable during her last days. After her passing, the family donated the sundail in rememberance and thanks.
