Proud of Our Elders Mural

Representing six Elders of the Randwick community, with mini-biographies incorporated in the mural. Originally planned as advertising space, it was co-ordinated and funded by Randwick Council. The mural is still there today and was restored in 2012

It includes six notable locals:

• Ollie Simms, the oldest Aboriginal woman in La Perouse,
• Wilhelmina Wylie, swimming champion and daughter of Henry Wylie who built Wylie's Baths in Coogee,
• Alice Gundry, founding member of the Coogee Ladies Pool,
• Doris Hyde, president of the Coogee Ladies Swimming Club who 'taught hundreds of children to swim',
• Harry Reed, ex-jockey who helped build the University of NSW,
• Greta Fyson, who 'fed the pigeons every day in the park on Coogee Bay Road'.
