The ‘Sunrise’ Statue is of a standing female figure with a baby boy on a half orb, mounted atop a nine meter high corinthian sandstone column, situated near Busby's Promontory. The column originally were located as part of the front entrance to the William Street Wing of the Australian Museum. It is one of the three remaining original statues out of 31 commissioned during the design of the park, and along with 'Sunset', are the only statues to remain continuously on site. The other figurines and statues were removed in 1971 due to large amounts of damage.
