The ‘Sunset’ Statue is a life size female figure draped in a cloak from the back of the head to the feet, mounted atop a nine meter high corinthian sandstone column, situated in the Column Garden. The column originally were located as part of the front entrance to the William Street Wing of the Australian Museum. It is one of the three remaining original statues out of 31 commissioned during the design of the park, and along with 'Sunrise', are the only statues to remain continuously on site. The other figurines and statues were removed in 1971 due to large amounts of damage.
