Full titleArmy vehicles training at Yarra Bay (3/5)Date21st March 1966DescriptionImage taken facing east across Yarra Bay Beach towards amphibian Army vehicles undergoing training exercises. Yarra Bay house is up the hill in the distance to the right of the image, behind the Yarra Bay Sailing Club. Cottage style building (beneath pine trees) is the small yarra bay ambulance station staffed by St Johns Brigade personnel, to attend to minor injuries etc. In use at summer weekend during busy pre wwII period, but during the 1970s they obtained and moved to adjacent pony club. Further behind is the unaltered landscape of Howe's Pleasure Grounds - upon which Randwick council commenced a hard fill tip in 1966, but converted it to Bicentennial Park from 1988 to 2007.
