Glanmire House

Glanmire is a two storey late Victorian era house with Boom Style domestic architectural feature. It occupies part of the estate granted to Samuel Hebblewhite in 1851, who constructed the Brisbane Villa there in 1854. Hebbelwhite was Randwick’s third 'influential' european resident, and a member of the first Randwick Council. The land was sold to HS Gibson in 1882, who renamed the Brisbane Villa to "Greenstead". Seabird was erected by Gibson in 1893. Its neighbour, Glanmire, was built in 1896 and was acquired for a Monastery in the 1920s, but later became Marcellin College. Seabird was not acquired by the school until 1967. Greenstead itself was demolished in 1981. Both operate as residences for the brothers however Glanmire is for retired brothers. An extension was built onto the back of the house in order to accommodate staff increases.
